2018 #FrayLife Summer Camp

Inner Kid Meets Adult You

Stare at clouds. Catch fireflies. Roast marshmallows. Bike through mountains. Downward dog. Picasso-lite. Shoot arrows. Ride horses. Drink beer.

Summer like it’s 1999.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

IN A WORD… EVERYTHING

We’re taking over the whole camp, and that means no outsiders, no kids, and you get exclusive access to all the camp’s facilities, including: the pool, game fields and courts, the ropes courses, the climbing wall, the beach, hiking trails, archery range, equestrian center, and more.

OUR CAMP & LOCATION

Our camp is set in the gorgeous, scenic Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, about 2 hours drive away from the DC metro. In case you’re not familiar, the Shenandoah Valley is one of the most scenic landscapes on the East Coast, with stunning mountains, picturesque valleys, and beautiful rivers.

Camp Horizons is where #FrayLife Summer Camp is going down this year.  The original owners built it 35 years ago and still operate it today. So it’s got that rustic vibe…  just think ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ meets ‘Moonrise Kingdom’. Located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, this is the perfect place to get a taste for all that the classic summer camp life has to offer.

ACCOMMODATIONS, FOOD & DRINK

When you come to #FrayLife Summer Camp, we’ve got you covered on the essentials.  We’ll randomly assign you a cabin with bunk beds, just like summer camp. The cabins themselves are just like you remember from summer camp.  In other words, pretty basic but everything you need to get a good night’s sleep. Want to call top bunk? Get there early, because those first to arrive get to pick.

Plus, each cabin has its own bathroom and showers.  Now be sure to rest up, because you’ll want to be ready for those morning adventures.

Groups can request to bunk together. If you’re coming as an individual, we think your cabin will be the perfect first place to get to know your fellow campers and bunkmates.

(If you’d like to leave your bed linens, pillow, and blanket at home, we’ll have bedding packs available to rent when you reserve your ticket.)

When it comes to food and drink, we’ve got you covered there too. We’ll be cooking all your summer camp favorites fresh all three days.  And you’ll eat with your new BFFs in the camp’s dining hall – summer camp style. Don’t be shy – there’s plenty enough to go around. Got special diet restrictions?  No worries! We’ve got you covered there too. You’ll have vegetarian, vegan-friendly, and healthy options available. Any other additional restrictions or special requests? Just shoot us a message and let us know ahead of time.

What about drinks? And adult summer camp wouldn’t be complete without a few adult beverages so we’ll be serving drinks at select camp events and locations… like the Saturday Night DJ Party and by the pool.  (We trust you to drink responsibly. But keep in mind, this is about having fun, being yourself, and making connections. And if you’re doing things like archery, mountain biking, and other adventures, we think those are best experienced without a hangover.  Don’t you think?

ACTIVITIES TO PLAY, UNWIND & CONNECT

Just because we’re grown-ups doesn’t mean we can’t have fun, right?  Over the three days, you’ll have endless opportunities to enjoy yourself, make new connections, and end your summer with style. It’s truly like summer camp for grown-ups.  You can go from lakeside yoga in the morning, to dodgeball in the afternoon… and an evening talent show to a camp-wide DJ party at night.

How you want to spend your time will be completely up to you.  Structured or unstructured… Adventurous or relaxing… Competitive or connecting… There’s something for everyone – and you get to pick. And if you like to see the menu before you order, so to speak, you can check out the full list of activities and adventures that awaits you at summer camp.

Getting To Summer Camp

Our camp is a 2.5-hour drive from DC center.  To get here, we recommend one of two options:

DRIVING

Driving to camp will give you the most flexibility.  And there is parking available at the camp for a small fee, but only for a limited number of cars.  So we cannot accommodate everyone. We recommend you carpool or reserve your place early. (Additional parking fee applies.)

PRIVATE SHUTTLE

Start the camp experience off the right way – with games, icebreakers, camp songs and more led by the Fraylife Camp Counselors.  We’ll be running a private shuttle between camp and locations in both Rosslyn and Reston on Friday morning, Sept 14th and again on Sunday.  This is the best option if you want to make connections early or if you want to leave your car at home. Just make sure to reserve a place by selecting the shuttle option at the ticket page.  (Additional shuttle fee applies.)

FLYING IN TO DULLES?

Camp Bus will be picking up from Wiehle-Reston East station, just a short ride from Dulles Airport at 7:30am on Friday, September 14th and dropping off at the same location at approximately 5:00pm on Sunday the 16th. A direct bus service operates from Dulles Airport to Wiehle-Reston East station every 15-20mins from Arrival Door 4 in the terminal building with plenty of room for luggage! The journey takes around 15 minutes and costs $5 each way.
